‘The Demon Inside OR I remember a time’ DEE I remember a time When my friend was one I knew When our love could see us through When the world was ours for the taking And Viktor’s smile inspired mine JACOB I remember a time When Elizabeth said my name And in her eyes the same Feeling that the world was ours for the making I should have seen the signs That tell of a man on the brink Who has a choice to make; to sink Or fly on the hopes and dreams he made for her But my choices made me fade from her When I embraced the Demon inside THEO (+DEE, JACOB) I remember a time Waking to a world unknown Beginning life all alone And nothing ever changing The world’s hatred inspired mine Cast away and hated (Time to live, to love) Born to one who has been fated To endure the cold rejection Of this world A world For taking, making This cruel gift of life D: His smile inspired mine My Losing fight J: Her love endured time THEO I will be with you on your wedding night JACOB I had not seen my future coming I had left my past behind The cold touch of fate I ignored And troubled not was my mind To see the creature live that day Showed me what my fate could be I had wished I would not find it But now it had found me (Falls over)

Watching 03:48
WATCHING Do I die? Or do I break, and be part of this world? Am I secure in my own mind? You don’t know me. I am In your crowd with you. We hide, but are so easy to find CHORUS Don’t think. Don’t act. Just be. He is watching. Don’t show them what you feel. Always watching Hide your Body. Hide your soul. Hide your mind. He is watching. They find us hid in our own world And they close in. Innocent we lay here No escape from this world That’s what we know now I won’t; will you betray me? CHORUS Don’t think. Don’t act. Just be. He is watching. Don’t show them what you feel. Always watching Hide your Body. Hide your soul. Hide your mind. No! (guitar solo) CHORUS Don’t think. Don’t act. Just be. He is watching. Don’t show them what you feel. Always watching Hide your Body. Hide your soul. Hide your mind. He is watching.

Whispers 03:25
Whispers Spoken Word (either singer or another voice) (1.19min-1.39min) ‘Don’t you hear them?’ The dusk was repeating them in a persistent whisper all around us, in a whisper that seemed to swell menacingly like the first whisper of a rising wind. ‘The horror! the horror!’. V1) Whispers in the night, Murmurs on the breeze. The darkness has it’s own life Brought closer by the trees. I come not seeking bloodshed Or power displayed I am a humble trader Seeing that my master’s paid C) Ebony for Ivory Lives lived without living A man that I hoped I would be Takes all without giving But how do you show a madness that he once was a man? How do you tame a whisper In an unknown land? V2) Bullets in the night Dealt by the white man’s hand We’re killed and called the savages By strangers to our lands C) Ebony for Ivory Lives lived without living A man that I hoped I would be Takes all without giving But how do you show a madness that he once was a man? How do you tame a whisper In an unknown land? In an unknown land. Unknown…

Haunt 03:37
HAUNT (TIME and MEMORY) Time makes its place. Ends and beginnings recur. Life shows its face. In time, what am I worth? Lives lost in time become lost. Who remembers when I’m gone? My life for the body, I remember My life for the heart, you remember All my life for the mind, we remember. In time, what of the world? My legacy waits for me. No discovery guaranteed. Mark the souls of those around you. What is immortality? My life for the body, I remember My life for the heart, you remember. All my life for the mind, we remember. In time, what of the world? Beauty and reality breed each other What will become of us? Rapture of life fades, Who will discover us? My life for the body, I remember My life for the heart, you remember. All my life for the mind, we remember. In time, what of the world? What of the world?

Our Place 05:11
Our Place Well I had a place I came from, and my big friend with me. Yes, I had place I came from. My big friend and me. But my big friend needed help, so he came to me. Well we worked lots of places, for us to make our way. Yes we worked many places, my big friend with me always. But my big friend made mistakes, so we never could stay. And I’d say, Hey now, there’s a place for us; a place what is our own. We’ll work and live on our own way, and sleep when old we’ve grown. Big friend I know you see it, that place we both long for. But wait a while to dream, for to have a place we must work more. Well we came to another place, my big friend and me. Yes, we came to another place which looked well ‘n’ good to me. I told my big friend ‘stay your tongue and our place we may yet see. Well the people in that well ‘n’ good place they said that we could stay, Said things that made me think that we could maybe make our way. I told my friend ‘stay your big hand and we can make our pay’. And I said Then there’ll be a place for us; a place what is our own. We’ll work and live on our own way, and sleep when old we’ve grown. Big friend I know you see it, that place we both long for, But to have our place you must not make your poor mistakes no more. Well my big friend, he promised he would stay his hand and tongue. Yes my big friend he promised he wouldn’t hurt no one. But sometimes when my friend got scared he wouldn’t know what he’d done. Now, at the place where we was there lived man and pretty wife. The people at the place all said that she was nought but strife. I told my friend ‘stay your hand. women ain’t common as mice’. And I said There is still a place for us; a place what is our own. We’ll work and live on our own way, and sleep when old we’ve grown. Big friend I know you see it, that place we both long for, But too many mistakes are happenin’, and they can’t happen no more. Well my big friend, he sits here with thoughts in all a whirl. Too many mistakes ‘bin made; the mouse, the pup, the girl! Now my finger’s on the trigger, to save him from this world. And I say Look, there is the place for us; that place what is our own. We’ve worked and lived on other’s ways, and for bad things we’re now known. Big friend I know you see it, that place we both worked for. And now you can go to our place! But you won’t be seein’ me no more. My finger’s on the trigger, so you won’t be seein’ me no more.

about

Backing tracks for the Musical Book Revue, a 6 part web-musical inspired by Frankenstein, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Heart of Darkness, To the Lighthouse, of Mice and Men and The Handmaid's Tale

Hello and thank you for finding our project,
The Musical Book Revue has been a long journey for the creative team behind it. Andrew Jellis (writer), Iskandar Sharazudin (producer) and Sam Timmerman (musical director) have imparted a phenomenal level dedication, energy and genius into fleshing out the concept and connecting the classic stories with a modern context.

But we can't do this alone.

For us to produce this as a full series, we need to grow our audience. We need YOU to listen to it and share it.

If you would like to help us out for the time and effort we have put into making this, THANK YOU. you can give a little back on our bandcamp page, DOWNLOAD the songs, COPY them and SHARE them with your friends.
